The Mackinaw Area Historical Society feels it should expand its coverage of our history by looking at our natural environment, so vital to our ancestors. A nature center, with many varied displays, is housed in the small hexagonal building across from, and south of, Freedom School. Resident Historian, Sandy Planisek, explores one aspect of nature weekly in her nature center newsletter as she watches the seasons unfold at Heritage Village. Come out and enjoy the marvel of nature at the Heritage Village park and visit the brand new Nature Center as it changes by the season.
