MAHS Summer Announcements- Expanded Heritage Village Hours and Family-Friendly Events
Mackinaw City, MI- The Mackinaw Area Historical Society has officially announced its Summer 2026 Heritage Village hours and seasonal programming, featuring a full lineup of free, family-friendly events celebrating local history, community traditions, and hands-on experiences.
A major highlight of the 2026 season is the expansion of the Heritage Village building access and docent-led experiences. In previous summers, Heritage Village buildings were open just two days per week. Beginning this season, visitors will be able to enjoy open buildings and guided docent experiences six days a week, significantly increasing opportunities for residents and tourists to experience Mackinaw’s history firsthand.
While the expanded schedule enhances access to the historic buildings and interpreters, the Heritage Village grounds and May Woods trails continue to remain open during all daylight hours year-round for self-guided exploration, walking, and outdoor enjoyment.
