About the Author
MaryAnn Moore became involved with MAHS even before moving to Mackinaw City, drawn by the opportunity to design and sew costumes, hats, and home décor for Heritage Village. Her creative contributions bring historical authenticity and charm to the village’s displays.
For MaryAnn, Heritage Village and May Woods are places of peace and renewal, where she finds joy in nature’s beauty. She spends countless hours caring for the landscape, picking up branches, and pulling weeds while immersed in the soothing sounds of the outdoors. Her dedication to both the preservation of history and the stewardship of natural spaces reflects her deep connection to the Mackinaw area. MaryAnn’s passion and hands-on involvement embody the spirit of MAHS, making her an integral part of its mission to protect and celebrate the region’s heritage.
“It was such a fun exercise to see Heritage Village and May Woods through a child’s eyes. We wanted to give kids the chance to bring these places to life through their own creativity, while also helping them understand the stories and history behind them.”
