Mackinaw Area Historical Society announces the appointment of Tim LePeer to its Board
MACKINAW CITY, MI — The Mackinaw Area Historical Society (MAHS) is excited to announce the appointment of Tim LePeer to its Board of Directors. With a combination of culinary skill, horticultural expertise, and a deep commitment to volunteerism, Tim brings a wealth of talent that will support MAHS as it continues its mission to preserve and celebrate the region's history, including the beloved Heritage Village and May Woods natural area.
Tim is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. His culinary background is matched by a lifelong passion for horticulture, a pursuit he has cultivated since graduating college and one that allows him to grow almost anything from seed. Tim recently completed workshops on rejuvenating old fruit trees through the MSU Extension and the Little Traverse Conservancy, and this past winter he put that knowledge into practice, trimming trees at six different locations throughout the area.
Volunteering is at the heart of Tim's life in the community. He teaches 4-H gardening classes each summer and cooking classes each winter, leads a free cooking class at St. Anthony's during the winter months, and regularly volunteers at the Mackinaw Senior Center and St. Ignace Meals on Wheels.
“I'm truly honored to join the Board of the Mackinaw Area Historical Society,” said Tim LePeer. “I've always felt a strong connection to this community, and I'm excited to bring my passion into a role that helps preserve our local heritage & nature. I look forward to working alongside such a dedicated team.”
