Mackinaw City, MI — The magic of the holiday season returns to Heritage Village as the beloved Christmas in the Village celebration takes place Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. with the service starting at 2pm.
Step back in time and experience the warmth and wonder of a 19th-century Christmas. The Village will come alive with festive spirit — crackling fires in period hearths, the scent of fresh pine, and docents dressed in traditional attire sharing the stories of holidays past. Guests can enjoy a holiday service in the charming historic chapel, sip warm beverages, and sample sweet seasonal treats.
The beautifully restored Heritage Chapel remains the highlight of the event, open to the public and hosting a special historical service that transports attendees back to a simpler, more reflective time. The service offers a unique opportunity to experience the timeless message of the season within the walls of this historic treasure, originally built in the late 19th century.
“With its glowing fireplaces, joyful music, and smiling faces, Christmas in the Village is one of my favorite events of the year,” said Angie Morthland, President of the Mackinaw Area Historical Society. “It’s become a cherished tradition that brings together our visitors, neighbors, and volunteers in the true spirit of the season. There’s something very special about celebrating the holidays surrounded by the history that shaped this community.”
With a little luck, a blanket of snow will add the perfect touch to this nostalgic celebration, making the experience feel straight out of a Christmas card.
Heritage Village is proudly 100% volunteer-run, brought to life each season by the dedication and passion of community members who preserve and share Mackinaw City’s rich history. Their efforts make cherished traditions like Christmas in the Village possible for all to enjoy.
Come celebrate, connect, and be part of the story — where the past meets the spirit of the season.
