Mackinaw Area Historical Society Announces 2026 Program Schedule

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mackinaw City, MI — The Mackinaw Area Historical Society (MAHS) is proud to announce its 2026 programming schedule, continuing its mission to preserve, interpret, and share the rich history of the Mackinaw area through engaging and accessible community events.

In 2026, MAHS will once again bring back beloved community favorites, including the Annual Historic Festival and the ever-popular Christmas in the Village, both of which have become signature events for residents and visitors alike. Responding to growing interest and community feedback, MAHS is also expanding its offerings to include guided hikes that explore local history through the lens of Mackinaw’s landscapes and heritage.

The organization will also continue its robust Monthly Lecture Series, featuring a full calendar of presentations led by historians, researchers, and subject-matter experts. These lectures highlight regional history, culture, and stories that connect the past to the present, and have become a cornerstone of MAHS programming.

“Our programming is something I am incredibly proud of,” said Angie Morthland, President of the Mackinaw Area Historical Society. “Year after year, a dedicated group of volunteers works tirelessly to deliver high-quality, meaningful events for our community. It’s inspiring to see what can be accomplished through passion and teamwork, and I look forward to both community members and visitors enjoying everything we have planned for 2026.”

MAHS programs are designed to engage audiences of all ages and interests, offering opportunities to learn, connect, and experience the history of the Mackinaw area in dynamic ways. Event details, dates, and updates for the 2026 season—including the Monthly Lecture Series—will be available on the MAHS website.
